Beech House is the largest part of our Farmhouse on Thorne Park and has many traditional features some of which date back to the 16th Century. A wonderful house perfect for get-togethers, family gatherings, celebrations or quiet breaks. Based in the countryside just outside the picturesque town of Holsworthy, it is the perfect base for visiting Devon & Cornwall. Relax in the private garden, or visit our animals on the working farm or have fun in the play area and games room.
You may wish to request a delicious home cooked evening meal which will be brought to you in the comfort of your dining room. Enjoy the large ensuite bedrooms, Inglenook Fireplaces with wood burning stoves, soak in the HOT TUB with a glass of bubbly, explore the working farm, go swimming in the sea nearby or perhaps a game of snooker /pool on the slate bed table. When the Self Catering property is free we are happy to provide rooms on a B&B basis. Please just call or email to check availability. There are four ensuite bedrooms, one four poster, well equipped kitchen, with range cooker, dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge and freezer. (tumble dryer) lounge and dinning room with inglenook fireplaces, wood burning stoves, TV, freeview, DVD, docking station wireless internet. Linen & towels, central heating, electricity and first bag of logs all included. Plenty of parking. Discounts for small groups and out of season weeks.
Thorne Park is a 100 acre working farm situated in a beautiful part of Devon known as Ruby Country, its tranquillity, gentle rolling hills and stunning views make this an ideal location. Go for a wander through our fields or by the stream at the bottom of the farm or watch our animals being fed.
Most of the year we have a lamb to bottle feed. Ideal for large or smaller groups, we offer a warm welcome and do our very best to give everyone a really enjoyable stay with us. Open all year.
We are just a short distance from the market town of Holsworthy, the Devon/Cornwall border is just 4 miles, and Bude 10 miles with its breathtaking scenery and surfing beaches. Explore the surrounding countryside coast and moors or take a trip to Eden or Clovelly. Horse Riding, Fishing, Golf and shooting all nearby, cycle ways, walks and National Trust Properties abound in this area.

Thorne ParkÂ & Beech House is owned and run by Marlene and Dave Heard. Born and bred in the West Country they extend to everyone a really warm welcome. Offering you good Farmhouse Accommodation, scrumptious Farmhouse cooking and a family atmosphere.
A mile and half from Holsworthy, Thorne Park is peaceful and unspoilt with lovely views, just ten miles from the beautiful coastline at Bude. Marlene has become renown in the area for her sumptuous food and you will get to taste some homemade delights such as scones or biscuits.
Dave is a ‘not quite retired’ Dairy Farmer and knows all there is to know about his bovine friends and the land he loves. He is never happier than when he is out on the farm with Bowie our dog, the newest addition to the family.
We love meeting our new guests from the far corners of the UK and abroad, with many returning year after year. We look forward to meeting you and ensuring your stay is as wonderful as possible.
New for 2013 was our Central Heating System which is run by a wood pellet boiler, this has made our Farmhouse even more warm and cosy, and is hopefully making us far more green!

Holsworthy is a thriving market town situated in North Devon just four miles from the Devon/Cornwall border and ten miles inland from Bude. One hour in one direction and you’re in Exeter, another hour south and you’re in Plymouth, it is situated in a part of the County known as Ruby Country, made famous by the wonderful local beef of cattle called Red Devon’s know as “Ruby’s”. Wonderful Countryside for exploring by car, cycling and walking. There is surfing in Bude, horse riding nearby, great pubs and country walks a plenty.
For the the kids we have acres of farmland to explore with loads of animals from the cows andÂ chickens that give us our fresh eggs for breakfast. Â We also have a wonderful kids climbing gym with swings and slides to keep them occupied. Nearby thereÂ are wonderful beaches at Bude as well as a seawater open air pool and “The Splash”, a the modern well equipped leisure centre.
